WHAT TO EXPECT FOR TESTING
Dr. Gonzalez and his staff administer a variety of psychological tests designed to answer specific questions regarding a person's emotional, cognitive, social, and academic functioning. This is accomplished through diagnostic interviews, consultations, review of previous evaluations, collateral ratings, and administration of a battery of tests. There are typically three sessions involved.
The first is the diagnostic interview in which Dr. Gonzalez will perform a clinical interview assessing a patients presenting problem and psycho- social history. A symptom assessment will also be conducted. During this appointment, the types of psychological tests which will be used will be determined.
The second session is the testing appointment conducted by Dr. Gonzalez and his staff. The patient receives an individually administered battery of tests to measure intellectual ability, emotional functioning, executive functioning, academic achievement, learning style, visual and auditory memory, attention and concentration, and social/emotional adjustment. This session lasts approximately three hours.
Following the assessment, Dr. Gonzalez and his staff wil compile, score, and interpret the testing data. Once this is completed, a comprehensive report is written and a feedback session will be scheduled. During this session, testing results and possible treatment options are presented and explained.
